If you are a serious swimmer, then an oval pool may be the best option for you as it offers long stretches of water to swim laps in. A figure-8 shaped pool is similar to an oval but with the added design of two circles that are curved inward at one end and form a narrower area in the middle, resembling the shape of an hourglass. This design is a good choice for those with limited yard space as it takes up less of the yard than an oval pool and is still able to offer the swimming and playing areas that most people want.
Unlike an oval pool, a figure-8 can be made in almost any size and shape which makes it more flexible. It can also be built as an inground pool, which makes it a more permanent fixture in your backyard. However, a figure-8 pool can be more difficult to construct than an oval pool and may require a larger digging hole. Also, it can be more costly to add a filtration system to this type of pool because the extra space is required for the sand filter.
